Rock Band 3

Harmonix brings a couple of new instruments to the Rock Band 3 fore. First is the introduction of a keyboard. It brings a completely new experience, not to mention a host of new songs to the game, so you can now realise your dream of being Elton John and other pop pianists. If you don’t like the look of that keyboard, Harmonix supplies an adaptor so you can use your own midi keyboard to jam away on.

The second innovation is the Pro Guitar. This 102-button monster allows you to effectively play guitar for real. It looks daunting at first, but after a few tries, there is an immense sense of satisfaction when you realise you’re strumming correctly without constantly looking at your frets. There is also a string-only version if you want to take things to another level. With up to 7 players being able to sing and play on mikes and instruments, 83 songs on disc and over 2000 songs available for download, Rock Band 3 will bring fun, and probably embarrassment, to your place.

A word of warning: this is not available officially in Japan, so you are going to have to import this, or head down to your local importer, with a very fat wallet.

Alternative: DJ Hero 2- For those who believe a DJ will always be cooler than a rock band.
